This year’s theme, ‘Marching Forward’, encourages us to reflect on progress made and take action towards a more inclusive future. From our Director of People, Culture and Performance, Lisa Hunter:

“As we celebrate International Women’s Day 2025 (8 March) and this year’s theme, Marching Forward, we are proud to reflect on the progress we’ve made towards gender equality at Kids First Australia.

With women making up 86% of our workforce, we are committed to closing the gender pay gap. The Workplace Gender Equality Agency (WGEA) reports that the national average total remuneration gender pay gap is 21.8% (including bonuses and penalties), while at Kids First, we have reduced ours to 4.2%.

Strengthening our commitment to diversity and inclusion, we have recently welcomed Jaklina Michael as our Diversity and Inclusion Manager, ensuring inclusive practices remain central to our workplace.

We know that gender diversity in leadership drives better workplace equality and organisational performance. That’s why we have actively increased representation on our board, with a woman as Chair, a woman as CEO, and over 44% of board positions held by women. Also, 76% of our leadership team are women.

We recognise that gender inequality is not experienced the same way by all women. Factors such as age, disability, ethnicity, gender identity, race, religion, sexual orientation, and Aboriginal or Torres Strait Islander heritage can create unique challenges and inequalities. Our goal is to create a workplace where everyone has equal opportunities.

We also continue to support flexible work arrangements, leave policies, and employees with family or caring responsibilities.

At Kids First, we remain committed to action and continuous improvement. Progress in gender equality benefits us all, and we are proud to be marching forward towards a more inclusive future.”
