Diversity and inclusion
At Kids First, we want every person who connects with us to feel welcomed, respected, valued and able to belong. We work with children, young people, families, employees, volunteers and communities with diverse identities, cultures, experiences and needs. Our commitment to inclusion means continually looking at how our services, workplaces, systems and environments can be safer, more accessible and more responsive to the people who use them.
We know inclusion is ongoing work. It means listening, learning, taking action, and embedding inclusive practice into how we work every day. In 2026, this work is being independently assessed against the Rainbow Tick standards as part of our commitment to continuous improvement.
Guided by our organisational HEART values (hope, empowerment, accountability, respect and trust) and a trauma-informed approach, we continue to strengthen our policies, practices and workforce capability to ensure everyone feels valued, respected and safe to be themselves.

Kids First embraces diversity, inclusion and belonging. We recognise and value the identities, life experiences and beliefs of all people.
Reconciliation at Kids First
Our Reconciliation Action Plan sets out our commitment to strengthening relationships, respect and opportunities with Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples and communities
LGBTIQ+ inclusive practice
Strengthening our services, workplaces, systems and culture so our people feel welcomed, respected and safe to be themselves.
At Kids First, LGBTIQ+ inclusive practice is part of how we work across the organisation. Our approach focuses on creating safe and respectful services, inclusive workplaces, listening and learning, strengthening policies and training, and holding ourselves accountable for continuous improvement.
In 2026, we are undertaking an independent Rainbow Tick assessment, measuring our practice against recognised standards for LGBTIQ+ inclusion and identifying where we can continue to improve.
