YOUNG DADS PROGRAM

Why This Year Matters

Successfully trialled in Canada and now being introduced to Australia for the first time by Kids First, this pioneering six week program will support young fathers aged 16-24 as they step into parenthood. The program brings young dads together in a supportive peer environment to reflect on their own experiences of being parented, build practical parenting skills, and develop a positive vision for the kind of father they want to be.

Focused on the first 1,001 days or a child’s life, when strong relationships shape brain development, attachment and lifelong wellbeing – the program helps young men build the confidence and capability to be the fathers their children need.
