Visible, Valued and Included

At Kids First, this day is more than acknowledgement. It reflects our ongoing commitment to creating environments where people feel safe, respected, visible and included.

We are using IDAHOBIT as an opportunity to reflect on the people, experiences and communities that shape Kids First every day.

Our 2026 Snapshot of Employee Diversity Across Kids First highlights the breadth of identities and experiences represented across our workforce. As at May 2026:
• 41% of employees who responded to the survey were born outside Australia
• our workforce is connected to more than 65 cultural groups
• over 34 languages are spoken across our organisation
• 46% use gender pronouns in the workplace
• 17% identify as LGBTIQ+

These insights reflect the breadth of identities and experiences represented across Kids First, including Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander employees, people with disability, carers, multilingual communities and LGBTIQ+ employees.

The voices, experiences and feedback shared by our people continue to influence how Kids First grows as an inclusive organisation and how we strengthen belonging across our workplaces, services and communities.
Across Kids First, this work is becoming increasingly visible through updates to our organisational acknowledgements, diversity statements and inclusion symbols across communications, workplaces and service environments.

This year also marks an important step in our Inclusion at Kids First journey with the launch of our LGBTIQ+ Inclusive Practice – Our Commitment and continued work toward Rainbow Tick accreditation.

At Kids First, inclusion is not a standalone initiative. It is shaped by the environments we create, the way we listen to one another and the actions we continue to take to ensure people feel welcomed, respected and valued.

This work continues to be guided by members of the Kids First LGBTIQ+ Inclusive Practice Working Group and Diversity & Inclusion Committee whose leadership, advocacy and commitment continue to strengthen inclusion across our organisation.
