Overview

The program aims to help young boys increase their understanding of self and others, through building their emotional understanding, managing challenging feelings, developing greater levels of respect in their relationships and improving their self-esteem.

The theme of ‘Crossroads’ is explored in every session. Young people are supported by facilitators to consider the ways in which, throughout their daily lives, they are faced with choices. It’s at these moments, these crossroads, that they can make decisions about who they want to be and how they want to respond to build positive, respectful relationships and good mental health.

B2A Themes

Identity: (present and future).

Feelings: exploring understanding of different feelings and body mapping.

Building emotional capacity: exploring the understanding of different feelings, speaking and unpacking the hard emotions that young people, particularly boys might not often address.

Consent: The CARE factor, breaking down the areas around consent, age of consent, respect and equality in these matters.

Relationships: exploring relationships for young people, what makes a healthy relationship, and how to make responsible, respectful choices during, and when they end.

Gender roles: critically unpacking masculinity and femininity, differences between sex and gender, macro, meso and micro systems and the impact of traditional gender roles.

Cyber Safety: the legal and ethical issues related to sexting, online bullying and pornography.
